WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOLISTIC
AND REGULAR DOG FOOD?
Regular pet foods use products such as corn, wheat,
soy and by-products. First, corn, wheat and soy are
very hard for an animal to digest. By-products are
anything left over from an animal that is not human
consumable. In chicken by-product, it can contain
the feet, beaks, feathers, intestines infested with
worms, and may contain feces. You will never find
any of these items in a holistic food or any of our
treats.
Ingredients used in holistic foods are: Barley (Highly
digestible grain rich in Lysine and B-Vitamins), Brown
Rice (Higher in protein than white rice, good source
of minerals and B-Vitamins), Oatmeal ( One of the
richest sources of silicon, which helps renew
connective tissue. Oats also contain phosphorus,
required for the brain and nerve formulation during
growth), Apples ( a natural source of protein, a fiber
thought to be beneficial for some digestive
disturbances as well as diabetes), Blueberries (
Loaded with Vitamins A & C as well as antioxidants,
excellent for the eyes), Cranberries ( Renowned for
their ability to maintain urinary tract health), Pumpkin
(Packed with vitamin A, Iron and Fiber, Pumpkin is
very low in fat), Garlic (A natural immune enhancer
that also helps repel intestinal parasites), Flax Seed (
A rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids, vital for skin
and coat as well as immune function), Parsley (A rich
source of trace minerals), Yucca (A desert plant to
reduce fecal odor and used by native American
Indians to combat joint pain).
Check your bag of pet food to see what ingredients
your brand is using. A holistic food will give your dog
a healthy, shinny and soft coat. It will produce less
shedding, less stool. The servings will be less than
regular pet foods because you feed less of a holistic
food. There is no fillers and no by-product!
WHAT IS HOLISTIC HEALTH CARE?
The concept behind holistic health care is that the
body should be viewed as a whole structure and not
regarded just as a collection of individual parts. All
systems within an organism are connected with one
another in some way, and any imbalance may disrupt
other body systems before physical signs are seen.
All aspects of a disorder should be considered in the
planning and implementation of a treatment regime,
as opposed to treating only the apparent clinical
signs themselves. For example, a dog that suffers
from chronic skin irritations, ear infections or chew
incessantly at his feet should not just be treated with
steroids, antibiotics or tropical applications. The
cause should be determined and addressed. Foot
chewing and chronic ear infections are classic signs
of food allergies in dogs. Often, a simple change in
diet to a holistic food with support to the immune
system, may help the problem within days.
Viewing the body as an inseparable structure, and
treating the cause of disease, (as opposed to
splitting the body into its individual parts and trying to
treat only the visible signs), allows that body, which is
fundamentally sound, to return itself to normal.
This promotes a healthful whole body, whose
systems work in harmony and are enhanced to their
maximum potential. The results in increased
resistance to disease, relief from pain, and an
enhanced state of general well being.
